Thief would have been my choice for weakest class. No quickness builds, the alac build is alright but suffers in Mobile fights, most builds have low cleave. The only good thing about thief is for fighting quadim and opening samarog's door. 1.
My favorites for melee are Reaper Greatsword, Ranger Greatsword, Scrapper Hammer, Warrior Axes, and Revenant Maxe/Axe. The sound design on all of them is just sublime, and Reaper Greatsword, Scrapper Hammer, and Revenant Mace/Axe in particular have fun combo field play that makes them really satisfying to burst with. In Guild Wars, combat is done in groups (usually 8 party members). When you arent playing with other humans, you will bring along the NPC Heroes and Henchmen. I would recommend not thinking too hard about a secondary profession. Try them and figure out something fun. However, a good build usually does not incorporate much of the secondary Build 1: 55 Monk. Certainly a top choice among the players, 55 Monk is really one of the most powerful and popular builds available in the Guild Wars 1 game. It is named after the ability to survive attacks with up to 55 damage, making it an excellent choice for farming and solo content. This build utilizes the Monk profession's high levels of Yes. Prophecies' PvE is not well-designed and not that enjoyable without other players. Factions and Nightfall are easier to digest, where Factions promises a quick and hard start while Nightfall gives you a medium-paced, handholding start (and Prophecies a very slow progression without that much handholding). Mesmers are best used by players who are well prepared in advance. Knowing the enemy ensures the Mesmer is as effective as possible, for example, if a Mesmer takes a skill bar set for interrupting spell casters, but the area is full of melee based enemies, the Mesmer's bar is wasted.
